What is Mule Madness?

Mule Madness is Muhlenberg College’s annual athletic fundraising campaign. From February 9-15, three divisions of 17 Mule Madness teams compete to reach three goals: donor participation, dollars raised, and student-athlete participation. These teams count on supporters like you who are passionate about Muhlenberg athletics. Muhlenberg’s student-athletes are always striving to stay on top, and they need your support to help them win.

When is Mule Madness?

Mule Madness kicks off Monday, February 9 and continues through Sunday, February 15.

Who can donate?

We encourage everyone, including alumni, students, faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, relatives, friends of the college, and community members to make a gift to Mule Madness! Your generous contributions will support vital programs and initiatives for our teams.

How can I help my team win?

Make a gift and encourage others to make a gift!After making your gift, please help spread the word by encouraging your teammates, family members, and friends to join you. You can do this on your own, or by signing up to become an advocate (see the "Advocacy" section for more information).  You can also sponsor a challenge or match to encourage others to join in on the competition.

What is a challenge or match?

Challenges and matches help inspire others to join in on the competition. They differ in that a match will match dollars/donors as they come in on a per-donor or per-dollar basis, while challenges unlock ONLY IF a certain threshold is reached in a milestone-based format. Both matches and challenges can be restricted to specific groups (e.g. class year, alumni chapter, or a list of friends).

How are winning teams determined?

All 17 teams are placed into three separate divisions. Each division will have a champion for highest donor participation and highest total dollars raised.

How were the goals determined?

These goals were determined by members of the athletic department and  annual giving staff. Each team has a student-athlete participation goal, a total donor participation goal, and a total dollars raised goal.

What do the winning teams get?

In addition to being named champions for the 2025-2026 season and earning bragging rights for the remainder of the year, winning teams also earn additional dollars from division sponsors.

I’m a student-athlete, why should I make a gift?

Making a gift as a student-athlete is a great way to give back to the team you love while increasing your team’s participation. If you and your teammates make a gift to Mule Madness, your team can win additional dollars. Gifts from senior athletes will also count towards the Senior Class Campaign.

Can I support a specific team?

Of course! When making your gift online, select which team or teams you wish to support. If you make a gift by mail, please note the team you would like to support on the check's memo line.

I’ve already made my annual gift, will it count towards my team?

Thank you for supporting Muhlenberg Athletics this year! For this challenge we are counting gifts specifically for Mule Madness, so all prior gifts this fund year up to when the Mule Madness site launches (July 1, 2024 - January 9, 2025) will not count. If you would like to support Mule Madness we encourage you to make an additional gift during the campaign.

Can I make an early gift?

Yes! Gifts can be made early directly through this website using the “Make an early gift” button and will be included in the totals when Mule Madness launches February 17. 

Will corporate matching gifts count in the campaign totals?

Corporate matching gifts will be included in our count if the donor has indicated an intention to complete the matching gift process with his or her employer. Signed or written documentation must be submitted to Muhlenberg College for the matching gift to be counted toward Mule Madness. Please note that totals may not be updated in real time on the campaign page.
